SPARK Reproductive Justice NOW is pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2018 FYRE Media Justice Camp! This year’s FYRE Camp, SCENE and HEARD, seeks to hold an intentional space for Queer and Trans young people of color and cis Black women in the South. We intend to hold this space for movement building and elevating our voices through theater. We believe we can act out during this political climate by asserting our voices and playing out our stories to hold center stage within the revolution.
Through this camp, SPARK aims to build a base of leaders who will reimagine and create artistic narratives for our resilience, our lives, and our communities. Leaders who will amplify the voices of queer and trans youth of color, and cisgender Black women.
The FYRE Camp participants will be a part of the 2018 Health Advocacy Cohort. This cohort will focus on issues surrounding abortion culture, stigma, and access; sexual health, such as HIV prevention and treatment, PrEP and PEP; health care coverage and access; and organizing and base building.
This year’s FMJC is scheduled to take place JULY 12 to JULY 15 in Atlanta, GA. All travel and boarding expenses are covered.
The APPLICATION DEADLINE to be a FYRE camper or a peer leader is JUNE 28, 2018. Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
