On behalf of the City of Clarkston, we are hosting a series of Town Hall Meetings to gather community input regarding the affordability of housing in Clarkston, and to develop progressive housing policies for consideration by the Clarkston City Council.
During the last election, affordable housing was one of the top issues brought up by Clarkston voters, if not the #1 issue.
Mayor Ted Terry and the Full City Council are excited about taking the lead as a City to address this critical issue.
We want to hear from you. We will be taking public comment.
The purpose of the first Town Hall Meeting is to hear from Clarkston residents, business owners, and other stakeholders regarding your needs for affordable housing; your experiences with accessing housing you can afford in Clarkston; and your desires for creating new affordable housing policies in Clarkston.
SMART ALEC (State and Municipal Action for Results Today) has worked with cities and counties around the country to develop affordable housing policies. At this first Town Hall Meeting, we will explain the scope of the work we have agreed to carry out for the City of Clarkston.
Most importantly, we will be discussing ways that you can be involved. This includes attending Clarkston Resident Work Sessions, which will be led by Clarkston residents, to help discuss, draft, and edit policies; and/or serving on the Oversight Committee that we will be creating for the Clarkston Affordable Housing Trust Fund that was established by the City Council earlier this year.
